Operator licence ("O" Licence) applications, amendments and renewals

In most case an O licence will need to be held by the operator of a goods vehicle used to carry goods for commercial gain.

In order to successfully apply for a licence, applicants must satisfy the Traffic Commissioner that they have met a number of detailed requirements. This will include showing that they:

  • Are a fit person to hold a licence;
  • Have satisfactory procedures for vehicle maintenance checks;
  • Have satisfactory procedures for monitoring drivers’ hours and tachographs and preventing problems such as overloading; and
  • Have sufficient financial resources.

The O licence services we offer clients include:

  • Applying for or seeking to vary an “O” licence.
  • Renewing an “O” licence.
  • Providing representation and comprehensive support at a Public Inquiry to review an “O” licence.
  • Advising on an appeal against any decision reached by the Traffic Commissioner

Located in Kent, we are at the heart of the UK’s transport infrastructure. We can, and regularly are, asked to represent clients from all parts of England and Wales.
