Claims against solicitors

We have extensive experience of solicitors’ negligence cases, both for claimants and defendants.

Since 1994 CHH LLP has been on the panel of solicitors appointed by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund to represent the interests of solicitors against whom allegations of negligence have been made. In that time we have handled over 1,500 matters, many of them extremely complex and of significant value.

When acting against solicitors we find that our experience of defending solicitors’ negligence claims helps us to assess whether our clients’ cases are likely to succeed. Given the large number of areas in which solicitors give legal advice there is scope for them to be negligent in a variety of different ways. For example, some of the claims we have brought against solicitors have arisen out of the following

• Negligent advice concerning rights of way
• Negligent drafting of a will
• Negligent advice concerning financial matters in connection with divorce
• Negligent drafting of commercial documents (e.g in one case the drafting of a building contract and associated bond)
