Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs)

We are currently advising, or have already carried out partnership to LLP conversions for:

  • surveyors;
  • patent attorneys;
  • accountants;
  • solicitors;
  • recruitment consultants.

We have also formed a number of LLPs from scratch.

Limited Liability Partnerships are the latest business vehicle and were introduced in April 2001. They are something of a hybrid between limited liability companies and traditional partnerships, and offer both the limited liability available to company shareholders and the tax regime available to partnerships.

This is an attractive combination that nobody planning to start a business can afford to ignore. Existing partnerships should also give serious thought to converting to LLP status.

Companies, partnerships and LLPs each have different features and choosing the right vehicle for your business is a critical decision. We can help you decide by guiding you through:

  • the pros and cons of each;
  • how LLPs are different from traditional partnerships;
  • what’s involved in setting up an LLP for a new or existing business.
