Agricultural Disputes

Our practice includes solicitors who are members of the County Land and Business Association (CLA), the National Farmers Union (NFU) and the Agricultural Law Association (ALA). This allows us to provide you with a wide range of agricultural experience developed through strong, long-standing relationships with the rural community, both locally and nationally.

We can provide you with expert advice on the following issues: -

  • Contract disputes (general agricultural related litigation, disputes with DEFRA -Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, disputes regarding the buying and selling of agricultural machinery)
  • Planning (disputes relating to land generally and in relation to planning / construction issues for e.g. relating to the new construction of farms and outbuildings)
  • Environmental disputes (pollution, statutory nuisances, waste and environmental impact assessment cases) including Environmental Agency prosecutions (Anglers caught while catching fish illegally without a licence and sewage leaking into rivers and fly tipping - dumping of waste illegally)
  • Employment disputes (acting for employers and employees for farms/landowners in relation to a variety of employment disputes)
  • Trading Standards (improper animal feedstuffs and improper use of fertilizers/products)
  • Health and Safety prosecutions (companies/farms being prosecuted following personal injury accidents to its employees and improper use of pesticides on land)
  • Property disputes , including breach of covenants, removal of trespassers and boundary disputes

We can act for you if the dispute is based in England and Wales.  Regrettably, we cannot assist with disputes based in other jurisdictions, such as Scotland or Northern Ireland
